3 Ideas for your Instagram Reels and Tik Toks

As a film company, we’ve worked on over 500 different projects with many different brands and businesses for over 6 years now. We have found that there’s a common view that business owners share. They would like to do something more with their social media presence, particularly in the the vertical video space.

When it comes to vertical videos, we’ve personally been able to use Instagram reels to build our own brand on instagram. We showcase Vlogs, behind the scenes moments, recaps for our events and even commercials for our clothing/merchandise.

We wanted to take this opportunity to share what types of videos, brands/businesses have been doing with reels and Tik Toks, to give you inspiration and show you the kinds of ideas we’d love to create with you as well.

NIKE - 50th Anniversary Video

To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Nike published a reel that was based all around photography. As this post is using legendary athletes and their products, we believe this is also a good format to tell your story. You know those memorable photos you have of the first time you opened your gym/office/studio/shop, we could transform that into a reel like the one below to tell your origin story without saying a single word.

“Great example. A brand that has a few million followers. What does that have to do with my brand?” Okay, I hear your sarcastic tone and I raise you this thought.

You’re right to think that. It does take consistency to get these kinds of views on every single video but you have to start somewhere and if you are blocking yourself from creating videos like these then you might be shooting yourself in the foot.

Let’s just take these ideas and put them in the vault for your future content plans. Why not? It’s free.

Another thought is that, it honestly only takes 1 person to watch your video for it to make an impact and turn that 1 person into a fan. The alternative is, not creating these videos and missing out on having the right person seeing your brand.

Here’s another example:

DUOLINGO

If this isn’t the inspiration you’re looking for then I don’t know what is. This language app (one of the most driest topics) is killing it on Tik Tok. Their success, is literally based around their awareness as a brand to be creating content on this app. They created a Tik Tok featuring their adorable green owl, walking around the street with the caption: “doing my stupid job to carry this stupid app with stupid content that doesn’t even make sense”

The point I’m trying to make here is that the content is received better when people know that you’re having fun and being playful with it. There aren’t many brands that have done well while being extremely polished and super serious in tone. This is a place for entertainment and so your content needs to be entertaining as well. That’s why a brand like Duolingo can do well on this platform.

Another business that is one of my absolute favourite brands to follow on

instagram and Tik Tok is:

We’re Not Really Strangers

What is extremely clever about this brand is that, all that they are really doing and posting, are different versions of very deep and heartfelt messages that people are thinking but are afraid to say. The input is simple: Find a creative way to showcase the way you want to document a message in real life. Whether it’s written on the frost of a car window or spray painted on a bed sheet on the staircase of a fire escape.

If I were to utilise this for a client, I would turn this into messages that relate to your industry. It’s especially perfect for brands that align with living a healthy lifestyle and fostering a healthy mindset. It’s not about the content going viral, it’s about sending authentic messages that allow people to understand what you and your business stand for. There is no denying the authenticity behind these brands because they are so open with their content. We hope these examples spark some ideas for your content. At the end of the day, it's about creating content that you love and sharing more of what you do with the world. It sounds easier said than done but that's why we're here to make life easier for you. If you're interested, contact us to book in a meeting. We’d love to get to know you and what your business stands for, so that we can provide you with the best video content possible.

Much love,
